(The opinions and outlook on this page are just the way I view life. Feel free to take what makes sense to you and throw away the rest.)
Hello my friends, my name is Mimi and I would like to personally thank you for viewing my web site. Where to start?........ Okay, what is sick suppose to look/act like?....... I have chosen not to succumb or identify myself by the medical conditions I have been diagnosed with and the bumps in my path. I was diagnosed at sixteen with six months to live. Yes, I still live with each of my medical conditions everyday. I hope by telling my life story it will help all people, with or without medical complications, encourage them to keep the faith, which ever faith is their own, and encourage them to never give up.
I have also built this site to encourage everyone to practice their right to choose to be a part of, "his or her own wellness." Get to know your own body. Research your wellness: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and nutritionally. Talk to your doctor about all options for a healthy life for you. To learn more about your options I have constructed the following link, "Links Medical Info" shown on the menu bar to your left for your convenience. The information ranges from: Western style medical information to Holistic. There are also links on abuse, prevention, and other helpful information to allow you to participate in all aspects of your wellness. Please always check with your doctor before trying anything
Synopsis of my Life: As a young child I was constantly ill and the physicians could not figure out why one child out of four children would continuously get sick. By the time one doctor found my elements he felt it might have been too late. I was diagnosed with a congenital IGA Deficiency (the rest of my immune system is compromised also), Acute Asthma, a Heart murmur, major environmental and drug allergies (everything in the environment and most of the medical treatments and medications they tried to use to help me). What was happening was my environment was attacking me daily and with little to no defenses from my immune system the doctors felt that my life had a slim to no chance ratio. (After I surpassed the six months, the doctors said I would not live into my 20's).
As a child and young adult (birth thru age 20, then age 20-22ish I had many home IV's and home care) through all the medical procedures, hospitals, doctors, and not being able to attend much of grammar school, even less of middle school and only approximately a month of high school; I still had an abundance of positive energy flowing through my spirit. I never thought the doctors were right. I always believed, "somehow, some way, I would fight through and make my dreams come true, regardless of the bumps in the road." (No one is immune to bumps in the road. Practice your right to choose, face the bump and challenge it, or not, but remember you have a choice.) Through great challenges and difficult odds, I chose never to give in or give up. By Keeping the faith, strength given to me by God, and a lot of positive thinking; at 41 years old (12-31-1968) I'm still here. As I've gotten older I have also accumulated multiple other medical conditions such as: Systemic Lupus, Raynaud's, Sjogren's, Three Heart complications (SVT,PVC & Junctional Rhythm: doctors say I will, eventually-someday, need a pacemaker), Hypoglycemia, Arthritis, Low blood pressure (80/60 is common) I had a mini-stroke (2002) and I break out with the occasional bout of Shingles. The power of faith/God and positive thinking has done wonders for me. I currently, only, take one medication every other day and the occasional oral antibiotic or shingle medication as needed. My diseases are not contagious, you're more dangerous to me than I could ever be to you; to learn more go to the "My Conditions Link."
While journeying through these bumps I had many dreams. Singing, pageants and commercials, getting a degree, traveling the United States, and jumping out of an airplane to name a few; All normal for a young girl. (I have accomplished all of these.) However, the one thing that stood out the most for me was to be able to just experience what life had to offer. I had, and still do, a great desire to meet people, make people smile, and reach out to help in anyway that I could. Even if all I was able to do was smile at someone new while walking into a coffee shop one morning. Or, sit and listen to someone talk just because they needed a positive boost; or even put a blanket on a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk as I walked by them one morning. (I try to do something everyday.)
I still have many aspirations and goals to fulfill: Publish my book, counsel people-to help them participate and focus on their own wellness, finish up my bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Business, possibly continue to a PSY-D in clinical Psychology, participate in as many fund-raisers as possible, sing, sing jingles, do voice overs and character voices, patent my inventions-then lease the rights to someone so they may take them to market for me, and last but not least design and build my own 3 bedroom 2 bath house. However, while I focus on these goals I will choose to encourage people to stay positive, keep the faith-which ever faith is their own- and follow their dreams. I will also continue to spread as much positive energy to everyone who is open to accept it.
Personal thoughts on LIfe: I have always believed that life is not about ourselves, it's about everyone and everything around us. I believe that everyone has a reason to be here in this world, and each person can touch others' lives in amazing ways. For example: If someone gives up on life, where will that leave the people they were meant to touch and help along the way? If you give up, you are not only altering your fate, but you are changing the fate of someone that you were suppose to touch through your journey of life. Whether life throws a curve ball or puts mountains in your way, never give in and never give up on Faith (what ever your faith may be) or yourself. Remember you affect all people who come into your path. If you can't find a reason to make it through the rough times for yourself, do it for someone else; someone you might need to touch in one way or another along your journey of life.
If I may suggest: along the journey through your life, try to get to know people for who they are inside regardless of their status in life, their appearance, their religious beliefs or the color of their skin. Try not to assume that you know whom they are without actually sitting down, talking and really taking time to get to know a person. Try to remember, as humans all we can do is try our best. Try not to judge anyone, because you can never walk in his or her shoes. If you can the next time you walk into a store or a coffee shop, look someone in the eye and say, "hello" with a big smile on your face. This action sends Positive Energy through the world and I know we can all use more of that in our lives.
If you are feeling down and need a positive boost feel free to click on the link that says: "Inspiring thoughts" I wrote most of them. Or, feel free to write to me and I will listen and send you positive energy via e-mail.
I would personally like to extend an abundance of Positive Energy and love to all in the world. Make life great regardless of what is tossed your way, and remember with each new day you are given a chance to make new memories! Remember: there is nothing that can't be done if we (all of us humans) put our minds to it. You too can do anything you put your mind too. Challenge yourself and you will be surprised how much you truly can accomplish. We all have the strength with-in to make our lives better!
God Bless and Positive energy to all. Thank You!
